The magic of the FA Cup
Being a part time AFC Wimbledon supporter, Will picked to go and watch them play an FA Cup 4th round thriller, against Premier league side West Ham United.
Wimbledon, who are rock bottom of England’s third division, found themselves in dreamland, going 3-0 up just after half time. The introductions of Lucaz Perez and Felipe Anderson decreased the deficit to 3-2 with 20 minutes to go but Wally Downes men struck late on to secure a famous 4-2 win and end all hope of a fight back from the mighty irons.
Wimbledon were rewarded were a 5th round home tie against the formidable Millwall FC and now just two wins separate them from reaching Wembley, and dare we say four more wins from once again lifting the trophy.
With football giants Manchester City and Manchester United still in the competition it does seem unlikely that the Dons will be crowned champions but if they did reach the final they’d certainly be the underdogs again, and we all remember what happened last time
